Our representation spans almost every part of the business of insurance companies. We represent our clients in a variety of cases, including: Insurance coverage, Insurance defense, Insurance subrogation, and Civil litigation & appeals.

Unlike some of the more traditional insurance defense law firms that are only equipped to handle lawsuits, our attorneys have experience in assisting insurance companies from the very inception of the insurance relationship to the final appeal. We have drafted insurance policies, prepared material for claims manuals, advised carriers in claims handling procedures and protocols, and helped with claims handling. We also have the skills required for more traditional defense of claims, including arbitration, appraisals, lawsuits, appeals at every level and pursuit of recovery opportunities. It is this full-service approach to the representation of the insurance industry that builds trust with our clients and prompts them to refer others to us time and again. We maintain an impressive client retention rate and our professional abilities and adherence to ethical standards have also garnered the highest recognition possible in the legal industry.

Grounds for Divorce in Ohio - Sylkatis Law, LLC

A divorce in Ohio is filed when there is typically “fault” by one of the parties and party not at “fault” seeks to end the marriage. A court in Ohio may grant a divorce for the following reasons:
• Willful absence of the adverse party for one year
• Adultery
• Extreme cruelty
• Fraudulent contract
• Any gross neglect of duty
• Habitual drunkenness
• Imprisonment in a correctional institution at the time of filing the complaint
• Procurement of a divorce outside this state by the other party

Additionally, there are two “no-fault” basis for which a court may grant a divorce:
• When the parties have, without interruption for one year, lived separate and apart without cohabitation
• Incompatibility, unless denied by either party

However, whether or not the the court grants the divorce for “fault” or not, in Ohio the party not at “fault” will not get a bigger slice of the marital property.
